Xbox Game Pass Losing 5 Games Today, Including 3 Beloved Co-Op Titles

Xbox Game Pass is losing five games later today, August 31, including three beloved co-op titles such as Borderlands 3. Despite these departures, August 2025 has turned out to be an overall net positive for the subscription service, with more titles joining than leaving Xbox Game Pass this month.

Barring occasional exceptions, Microsoft typically removes titles from its subscription library twice a month—at the beginning and midpoint. The latest such catalog rotation happened on August 16, when Xbox Game Pass lost three games: Anthem, Farming Simulator 22, and Persona 3 Reload.

Another five titles are now set to follow later today. The August 31 Xbox Game Pass departures consist of Borderlands 3, Ben 10 Power Trip, Sea of Stars, This War of Mine: Final Cut, and Paw Patrol: Mighty Pups Save Adventure Bay. With the exception of This War of Mine, all feature cooperative multiplayer modes, with three of them—aside from Ben 10 Power Trip—being immensely popular among co-op aficionados.

PAW Patrol Mighty Pups Save Adventure Bay is largely geared toward younger audiences, which—coupled with its mixed reviews—might have contributed to it flying under the radar a bit. But as far as co-op games for fans of the puppy-starring franchise are concerned, it offers a consistently memorable experience. The PAW Patrol adaptation and Ben 10 Power Trip were both added to Xbox Game Pass in December 2021, enjoying the longest stint on the service out of these five departing titles.

Xbox Game Pass Added 5 More Titles Than It Lost in August 2025

On the other end of the spectrum is Borderlands 3, which barely made it four months before being pulled. Short Xbox Game Pass runs aren’t uncommon for 2K games, and this particular one was likely used as a way to promote the upcoming release of Borderlands 4, which is scheduled to hit the market on September 12. Following the forthcoming departures, Xbox Game Pass will have lost eight titles over the course of August 2025. But the month was still an overall net positive for the service, with 13 new titles added.

Looking ahead, the next catalog update is expected on September 4, when Xbox Game Pass will be adding the much-anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong. Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is then arriving on September 17, followed by the Xbox Series X/S version of Frostpunk 2 the next day. The full Wave 1 lineup for September 2025 is likely to be announced on or around September 2, as Microsoft has historically favored Tuesdays for such communications.
