To fill the hours between now and then, World of Warcraft has revealed a new browser activity for fans to enjoy. By visiting the Warcraft Story website, and inputting the character’s name and Realm, players can get a short video about their heroes narrated by Xal’atath, the main antagonist of The War Within. Created using Wowhead’s model viewer technology, the short video showcases not only statistics and other achievements for the chosen World of Warcraft character, but their transmog and title as well.
Personalized World of Warcraft Stories for The War Within
The facts that are pulled for the story seem to be from a wide selection of statistics, from bosses slain and critters killed to crafts completed and total deaths. Players can make stories for multiple characters, or try several times on the same one, as they may get different results on subsequent attempts. Fans like Meggo have even found special Easter eggs for certain types of characters, such as a unique dialogue for Shadow Priests, who have a special connection to Xal’atath dating back to her existence as an Artifact Weapon in World of Warcraft: Legion.
Creating the personal story takes a few minutes, during which a fair amount of CPU and memory is used by the site, so it is best not to try and game while doing so. Additionally, players may encounter errors while making their story. World of Warcraft suggests turning off any ad blockers and clearing one’s cache if they do, but if the problems persist, fans may simply need to wait until fewer people are using the site.
Blizzard has been really hyping up Xal’atath as a major World of Warcraft villain. She was in World of Warcraft’s first The War Within motion story, appeared in almost every promotional picture and video for the expansion, and even invaded various WoW content creator streams and videos. Warcraft executive creative director Chris Metzen recently confirmed Xal’atath would be a major player throughout the entire Worldsoul Saga, so it seems like the battle against her is only just beginning in WoW: The War Within.
