The new PEAK update has introduced many new items, and of course, some mysteries too. One of the standouts is the Strange Gem, which, just like its name, is pretty mysterious. Then there’s the Ancient Idol, also known as the Golden Bing Bong.
The Golden Bing Bong looks fancy and valuable, but getting your hands on it won’t be easy. For something that shiny, it’s gotta have a big purpose. This guide will walk you through how to find the Golden Bing Bong and what you can actually do with it in PEAK.
How to Get the Ancient Idol in PEAK (Golden Bing Bong Location)
Players can find the Golden Bing Bong inside a hidden tomb in the Mesa biome. The tomb is buried deep underground, so reaching it won’t be easy. Right now, there’s only about a 30% chance of it appearing in map rotations, and its exact location changes every day. This means you might need a few tries before you manage to find it.
No matter where it spawns, you will always find the tomb by looking for a large hole between two massive rock formations. An image has been included below to help you spot it more easily. Since you’ll be diving pretty far down, it would be a good idea to bring along items like a Balloon, a Parasol, or a Rope to soften your fall. Using a Parasol works perfectly.
Keep moving along the path and climbing down. You will have to pass through some tight tunnels, but don’t worry. There’s really only one way forward, so it’s hard to get lost. Since you’re now underground, you also don’t have to deal with the burning sun of the Mesa biome anymore. After a bit of exploring, PEAK fans will reach a wide chamber where the Golden Bing Bong is placed on a plinth.
Once you pick it up, you will quickly notice just how heavy the Golden Bing Bong is. If you are playing with your friends, the easiest option is to let the teammate with the lightest load pick it up.
What Does the Golden Bing Bong Do in PEAK
The Golden Bing Bong, also known as the Ancient Idol, is actually one of the most powerful items you can get in the game. As long as the player is holding it, they won’t take any damage at all. The only catch is that you can’t climb while carrying it, but you can always store it in your inventory if needed.
The Golden Bing Bong can also help you complete an achievement. There’s one called 24 Karat Gold, where you need to offer the kiln a valuable sacrifice. To complete it, take the Golden Bing Bong to the Caldera biome and toss it into the kiln.
