REED CITY — The newest addition to Reed City’s business community is to encourage locals to have fun and be active.
fairway is a new virtual arcade that opened at 836 S. Chestnut St. in Reed City with a variety of interactive video games and activities.
Owner Gary Bailey celebrated the grand opening by cutting a ribbon at the location on January 27.
The business has two simulator booths where individuals and groups can play a variety of activities such as golf, baseball, hockey, soccer, disc golf, bowling, and special mini-games such as zombie dodgeball.
Manager Nick Bailey said the space encourages families to exercise.
“It’s going to be a modern arcade that requires exercise,” said Bailey. “On the other side of the venue, we have two stations with virtual reality headsets and three with Nintendo Switches and all the games. I plan to have it ready.”
Arcade offers virtual reality headset games with a variety of gameplay and challenges. They carry novelty items and supplies for board games and games, including Dungeons & Dragons.
Bailey wanted to give the community more options and products to help them.
“We also have some accessories for playing baseball in virtual reality to actually measure people’s swings,” says Bailey. “They can work on the swing and tell us what they need to do better. Now he has two simulators that can handle eight people each.”
Simulators are $40 per hour and virtual reality stations are $20 per hour, with systems that can support up to eight people. If all 8 people use the virtual reality system, the price is $5 per person.
Gameplay on Nintendo Switch is $10 an hour for up to 4 players.
The fairway also has a selection of products for golfers and a golf wrapping station to help repair golf equipment. We offer regular golf leagues and disc golf leagues throughout the year.
“A lot of people say there’s nothing to do around here,” Bailey said. “It’s amazing what kids can do, families and individuals can do. We are open 24/7. , we have already reserved quite a few ways for different things.”
Fairway’s owners plan to expand to a larger facility in the next few years as the simulator grows and offers more to the community.
