Sony’s new virtual reality headset is just a few weeks away from hitting the market. However, PlayStation VR2 is already in the news as Bloomberg said in an article that PlayStation has slashed its sales expectations. “We have not cut production numbers for PlayStation VR 2,” Sony emphasized. The company believes PlayStation fans have shown “enthusiasm” for the launch, which includes more than 30 titles such as “Gran Turismo 7,” “Horizon Call of the Mountain,” and “Resident Evil Village.”
Sources consulted by Bloomberg said Sony intended to hand out 2 million units in the first quarter of 2023, but that expectation dropped by 1 million units after the number of pre-orders was reportedly disappointing. In any case, PlayStation plans to distribute 1.5 million units between April 2022 and March 2023, when the next fiscal year ends.
