The Resident Evil Village story DLC arrives on October 28th, and we know nearly four hours of Shadow of Lords content will round out the Winters family’s primary role in the Resident Evil series.
Spoiler alert: This story contains spoilers for Resident Evil Village.
Speaking to IGN Japan at the Tokyo Game Show, director Kento Kinoshita said that Capcom is “creating a Shadows of Lords story that will conclude the story of the Winters family.” Wherever you go with the entry means it will likely introduce a new set of faces or return to characters you haven’t seen in a while.
As for what fans can expect from future RE entries, producer Masachika Kawada laughed, saying that he “absolutely cannot share” future plans.
The Winters family consists of Ethan Winters, the main protagonist of Resident Evil VII and The Village, along with his wife Mia and daughter Rose. In the Resident Evil Her Village post-credits scene, we see Rose in her teenage years working with Chris Redfield. There was also some teasing at the end of the game that Ethan is still alive, so it looks like the upcoming DLC will provide an answer on that front as well.

Kawada and Kinoshita also talked about the new third-person mode coming to the Gold Edition of Resident Evil Village, and wanted fans to see the mode and wonder, “Did we make this a third-person from the beginning?” I said I want to
“It took as much effort as creating a new game,” Kawada said. “The same game can be a completely different experience when played from a third-person perspective.”
Kinoshita also talked about work related to third-person modes, pointing out details that make it clear that Village’s third-person gameplay has to stand up to other entries in the series.
“As you know, we felt we had to make something equal to or better than Resident Evil RE:2 and RE:3,” Kinoshita said. “Resident Evil Village” has a much richer variety of actions than previous series. The animation will look perfectly connected and will be able to play in tempo. ”
