Qualcomm recently Snapdragon X70 5G Modemnot only has fast downlink and uplink speeds, but it’s also built on a state-of-the-art architecture that doesn’t aggressively eat up your battery life. A teardown video shows that Apple’s latest flagship lacks Qualcomm’s latest baseband chip.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X65 powers Apple’s latest iPhone, Qualcomm’s first 10Gbps 5G modem for smartphones
A YouTube channel called WekiHome performed the teardown, and Qualcomm Snapdragon X65 5G Modem This means that both the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max support mmWave networks in the US, just like their predecessors. The following is unconfirmed, but unless Apple goes one step further and distinguishes between his four models, it’s possible that the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus will be treated as the same 5G modem for him.
Apple probably didn’t source the Snapdragon X70 from Qualcomm. Because the parts weren’t ready yet. Even if it were ready, it might not be used on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max due to its high price. Unlike most of its competitors, Apple has made no habit of switching to the latest cellular standard. This is actually a smart practice as the benefits of using Qualcomm’s latest and greatest baseband chips diminish, not to mention the additional cost.
For example, the Snapdragon X65 and Snapdragon X70 both support mmWave networks and have a theoretical maximum download speed limit of 10Gbps. The difference in power savings between the two chips is probably less, which would explain why the iPhone 14 Pro Max. long lasting Previous battery tests compared it to the iPhone 13 Pro Max, even though the latest flagship model has a smaller battery than its predecessor.
The addition of A16 Bionic and LPDDR5 also play a role in extending battery life, so using power efficient components such as the Snapdragon X65 is an advantage.
I recommend checking out another teardown.
