Jinx is a League of Legends character who has received a lot more attention as of late thanks to her starring role in the incredible Arcane television series. Her video game counterpart was introduced to League of Legends in 2013, and she has since become one of the most beloved and iconic heroes in the game. Jinx currently has 14 skins, though only nine can be purchased as the rest are locked away tightly in the Legacy Vault.
Jinx has a range of different skins, but this ranking will look at eight particularly noteworthy options. Different effects and animations that come with each skin as well as how well-suited they are to Jinx’s eccentric personality will be considered to justify each skin’s spot here.
8 Odyssey Jinx
Epic Skin
- Released in 2018
- Cost: 1350 Riot Points
- Available to buy
- Chromas: Aquamarine, Emerald, Pearl, Rose Quartz, Ruby and Tanzanite.
The Odyssey skins were created as part of the Odyssey alternate reality/future universe in League of Legends. Inspired by the likes of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and the Borderlands game series, the skins have a rough and ready sci-fi feel to them and plenty of interesting lore to dive into.
Jinx’s Odyssey skin reimagines her as the pilot and weapons builder for the Morning Star ship crew. Her default look with the skin features dark blonde hair and one braid instead of two. Her other braid is replaced by a cable. She also has a deep space outlaw feel to her, especially with her robotic left arm.
With this skin, Jinx gets new animations, different effects and sound effects, and a new recall. She also gets a change to her arsenal that is more in line with the sci-fi theme, such as her rocket launcher now being called the Super Mega Death Comet that fires- if the name wasn’t a dead giveaway – comets and planetoids.
Odyssey Jinx suits Jinx’s chaotic nature perfectly while putting her in the alternate reality role of a renegade space explorer. It’s a great choice for those looking to add a bit of sci-fi mayhem to their Jinx gameplay.
7 Zombie Slayer Jinx
Epic Skin
- Released in 2015
- Cost: 1350 Riot Points
- Only available when the Legacy Vault is opened
- No Chromas
There is no doubt that Jinx is a character who was made for a zombie apocalypse. Her violent and unhinged behavior lends itself perfectly to an apocalyptic world. In terms of suitable themes, Zombie Slayer Jinx is arguably the most akin to her nature.
Jinx rocks a punk rock, dystopian style outfit with this skin, including pink hair and stripy socks paired with leather boots. She gets new textures for her weapons as well as new particle effects and a recall animation that shows her fighting off zombies. There are some sound effects to go with the skin too.
Although the Zombie Slayer skin for Jinx may not be the most impressive in terms of effects and animations, the theme fits the character so well that it’s impossible not to see it as one of her best.
6 Battle Cat Jinx
Epic Skin
- Released in 2022
- Cost: 1350 Riot Points
- Available to buy
- Chromas: Catseye, Emerald, Nightwire, Obsidian, Rose Quartz, Ruby, Sapphire and Tanzanite.
Battle Cat Jinx was released as part of the Anima Squad set in League of Legends, and it quickly became a fan favorite. The skin combines animal-inspired looks with high-powered technological outfits, making for cool and cute designs. Jinx’s Anima skin links her to a cat, as the name suggests, and she not only gets a new look but also new effects and animations.
When wearing the Battle Cat skin, Jinx dons a pair of cat ears, blue face paint, and a futuristic-looking bodysuit. Her braids are turned into two long pigtails. The skin has various chromas for alternate colors, but the default color changes her hair to white.
All of Jinx’s animations are changed with this skin, such as her recall animation which depicts her summoning the spirit of the Battle Cat. There are some cool effects too, like her rocket launcher transforming into the Battle Cat and leaping onto enemies and fire trails spewing out behind the rockets she fires. There are plenty of cat-themed sound effects too.
The Battle Cat Jinx skin reflects her chaotic nature well, but it also works excellently with the other Anima Squad skins and features some excellently made effects that merge with the Battle Cat theme perfectly.
5 Ambitious Elf Jinx
Epic Skin
- Released in 2017
- Cost: 1350 Riot Points
- Only available when the Legacy Vault is opened
- No Chromas
Next is a skin that doesn’t sound like it would work on paper, but in action, it suits Jinx down to the ground. With the Ambitious Elf skin, Jinx is dressed as one of Santa’s elves, complete with a Christmas-themed outfit and long, pointy elf ears. According to the official description of the skin, Jinx is a “master toy maker and inventor” who wants to become Santa, even though her fellow elves worry that her toys are too similar to weapons.
The lore behind the skin fits with Jinx’s explosive talents rather well, and she somewhat surprisingly suits the Christmas outfit and elf ears too. One of the best elements of this skin is the change made to her Super Mega Death Rocket. Rather than a shark-themed rocket launcher, it is transformed into a giant Christmas present with teeth and googly eyes. It’s all so very Jinx, but also fantastically creative.
The skin also includes new effects and animations, including an animation where Jinx rides on a toy train. It might lean heavily on the Christmas theme, but Ambitious Elf Jinx is a fun skin to enjoy all year round.
4 Arcane Jinx
Common Skin
- Released in 2021
- Cost: 975 Riot Points
- Not currently available
- No Chromas
This next skin was created and released to celebrate the Arcane: League of Legends animated Netflix show, and it depicts Jinx as she appears in the series.
She has her own distinctive style that mirrors how she looks in the show. Jinx’s weapon arsenal is also changed to her weapons from the series, which are based on the original Jinx’s weaponry but with their own unique style.
Jinx’s Arcane style model has been executed excellently, as have the animations and effects that come with it. Although the skin isn’t readily available anymore, it’s one to watch out for, especially for those who are big fans of the Arcane show.
3 Prestige Battle Cat Jinx
Mythic Skin
- Released in 2022
- Cost: Special, but can sometimes be bought for between 100 and 150 Mythic Essence
- Rare and limited, so only available occasionally.
- No Chromas
The Prestige Battle Cat Jinx skin basically just ups the ante of the regular Battle Cat Jinx skin, but it does so in a way that makes it one of the characters’ absolute best looks. The skin retains the base features of Battle Cat Jinx but enhances everything from the model to the visual effects and even the sound effects.
With this skin, Jinx has a similar look to what is seen with the Battle Cat outfit. However, this look is all the more over-the-top and stylish. Jinx has long pink locks and bangs with the Prestige Battle Cat skin. Her braids also have purple coloring on the tips. Her cat-like bodysuit is now colored with whites, golds, blues, and purples. She also keeps her cat ears, though they now have a bright blue glow.
Jinx has a look reminiscent of a sci-fi heroine crossed with a magical girl when wearing the Prestige Battle Cat skin, and honestly, what more can you ask for?
2 Star Guardian Jinx
Legendary Skin
- Released in 2016
- Cost: 1820 Riot Points
- Available in the shop
- Chromas: Mythic
On the topic of magical girls, the Star Guardian line of League of Legends skins is a direct reference to the popular anime genre. Taking inspiration from the likes of Sailor Moon and Puella Magi Madoka, the Star Guardian skins are highly popular and reimagine various LoL heroes as high school students tasked with protecting the world from intergalactic threats.
While the theme might not sound very Jinx-like, the description of her Star Guardian persona in the lore slots her in perfectly. Jinx is described as a cynic who refuses to “treat her powers as anything more than a plaything to serve her own interests.” That is very Jinx, and it’s a testament to the developers and writers of the Star Guardian lore that they can maintain the key elements of her character even when putting her into an alternate reality that doesn’t seem to suit her personality.
Aesthetically, Star Guardian Jinx is an absolute must for fans of the magical girl genre. There are plenty of sparkly, glittering, explosive animations that go with the skin. There are also some new animations that feature two cute creatures named Kuro and Shiro who are only part of the Star Guardian skin. Not only is this a great skin, but it’s also a fabulous choice for those who love all things colorful and glittering as well as magical girl enthusiasts. It’s one of the best Jinx skins in League of Legends, only being topped by the final entry.
1 Firecracker Jinx
Epic Skin
- Released in 2015
- Cost: 1350 Riot Points
- Available in the shop
- Chromas: Amethyst, Aquamarine, Citrine, Emerald, Golden Tiger, Obsidian, Pearl and Rose Quartz
The top choice for Jinx’s best skin has to go to Firecracker Jinx, as not only does it look amazing and have some awesome animations and effects, but it is also perfect for Jinx’s character.
Jinx’s Firecracker skin was released for Chinese Lunar New Year. The skin is designed around the idea of Jinx being a dragon-themed fireworks expert, which is about as perfect of a profession as it’s possible for her to have. The design changes up her weapons so that they now look like dragons, but Jinx herself also has some dragon-themed attire, such as a green dragon tattoo, green dragon-like eyes, and a green streak in her hair (for the default skin, these colors change with the chromas).
Jinx is dressed in a traditional Chinese style dress with this skin, though it has some Jinx style alterations—such as a split up the leg—and is paired with long socks and boots. Her braids are wrapped up, and she has a large flower in her hair too, emphasizing the Chinese themes.
Jinx has an explosive personality that is set off by her literal explosions, thanks to being an expert on all things that go boom. Firecracker suits her so perfectly and looks fantastic in-game when she sets off her fireworks to cause explosions. It might not be as dazzling as the Legendary Star Guardian skin, but Firecracker wins in terms of how well it suits her personality.
