Some fans of The Sims 4 believe that a long-lost character, Nervous Subject, is set to make a comeback at the end of October. While an official version of Nervous Subject can already be accessed in The Sims 4, there’s been no new lore written around him, and a preview image from an upcoming expansion has some thinking that’s about to change.
Nervous Subject is a pre-made sim who made his first appearance in The Sims 2′s Strangetown neighborhood, which played host to unusual occurrences, including the storyline with Bella Goth being abducted by aliens. The adult son of single mother Olive Specter, Nervous Subject’s in-game bio in The Sims 3 places him right at home in Strangetown, as it’s hinted that his father is The Grim Reaper.
With the upcoming release of The Sims 4 Life & Death expansion pack set for October 31, some fans are expecting a return by the possible half-Reaper. The next expansion for the game will include several new features for both living and dead sims, including the ability for players to take control of ghosts and help them build up their supernatural powers. A promotional image that’s been released for Life & Death shows The Grim Reaper standing behind three other characters, one of whom is a thin man with a mohawk and is seen poking at a raven standing on a perch. The Sim’s appearance, along with his nearness to The Grim Reaper, is leading some fans to believe that he is a new version of Nervous Subject, and that more official content centered around him is on the way.
The Grim Reaper’s Son May Make a Comeback in The Sims 4 Life & Death
If the Sim in the image is Nervous Subject, it wouldn’t be his first appearance in The Sims 4. Maxis has already made Nervous Subject available for download as a character in The Sims 4 Gallery, the online platform on which players are free to upload their custom-made Sims, houses, and other creations. This version of the character shares a lot of similar features with his The Sims 2 iteration, although his mohawk has changed from orange to green. Neither depiction matches up perfectly with the promotional image, however, as that character shown there seems to have mostly black hair with tinges of purple.
Still, with the heavy focus on death in the upcoming expansion, along with a new profession that allows characters to apprentice The Sims 4‘s Grim Reaper, now may be the perfect time for Nervous Subject to make another official appearance. In addition to Grim taking on a larger role in the expansion, The Sims 4 is currently holding a Reaper’s Rewards event in which players can earn spooky in-game furniture, accessories, and other bonuses by completing weekly in-game challenges.
