Sony has officially revealed the new PlayStation Plus games coming to the Extra and Premium tiers in August 2025. The Extra and Premium tiers of PlayStation Plus are updated in the middle of the month, separate from the monthly free game update that is part of the Essential tier.
Essential, Extra, and Premium tier subscribers have already been treated to the August 2025 free games. Right now, PS Plus subscribers across all tiers can claim tough-as-nails Soulslike Lies of P, fan-favorite survival game DayZ, and anime fighting game My Hero One’s Justice 2 for their digital libraries. The next PS Plus update will come on August 19, at which point Extra and Premium subscribers will be treated to a fresh batch of games, with the lineup looking incredibly impressive.
On August 19, PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers can look forward to Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key, Coral Island, Earth Defense Force 6, Harold Halibut, Indika, Mortal Kombat 1, Spider-Man Remastered, Sword of the Sea, and Unicorn Overlord. Spider-Man and Mortal Kombat are clearly the headliners, but Sword of the Sea is a day one PS Plus Extra game, which makes it very exciting as well. Subscribers will also want to keep an eye on Coral Island if they like Stardew Valley-like cozy games and Unicorn Overlord if they’re into strategy. Indika has also earned a great deal of critical acclaim and should make a tremendous addition to the PS Plus lineup.
New PS Plus Extra and Premium Games for August 2025
- Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key
- Coral Island
- Earth Defense Force 6
- Harold Halibut
- Indika
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Spider-Man Remastered
- Sword of the Sea
- Unicorn Overlord
PS Plus Premium August 2025 Games
- Resident Evil 2
- Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
PS Plus Premium subscribers get access to everything added to the Extra tier, plus Premium-exclusive games. The PS Plus Premium games for August 2025 are the original PS1 versions of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. The Resident Evil games were confirmed for PS Plus earlier this summer, and so it’s nice to finally have a release date. The games will come with features like rewind and quick save, but no trophy support, unfortunately.
August 19 is clearly going to be a busy day for PS Plus subscribers thanks to these new additions, but there will be some games leaving that day as well. Notably, The Witcher 3 is expected to leave PS Plus on August 19 alongside a handful of other titles.
