Latias and Alolan Exeggutor will be ex cards, while the Latios and Latias cards will feature connecting artwork that together form a bigger picture. Some controversy was seen at the 2024 Pokemon World Championships. During the TCG section of the event, a competitor was caught cheating after a video of them playing went viral. The player, named Carlos Eduardo Ruiz, is seen taking a card from his discard pile and placing it on his lap before adding it to his hand. While Ruiz was disqualified, fans are calling for him to receive a ban from future Pokemon TCG tournaments. Ironically, Ruiz was using a mat given to “Pokemon Professors” as part of a program by The Pokemon Company to help ensure fair play and adherence to the rules of the game. A Mexican gaming organization associated with Ruiz has severed ties with the player following the incident.
