A Pokemon fan shared an absolutely infuriating video of their encounter with a Shiny Rayquaza, upsetting the Pokemon community in the process. The Pokemon Emerald mascot is quite popular, and fans who have dreamed of finding a Shiny version of it may be heartbroken by the fan’s video.
Catching a Legendary in Pokemon games is always exciting, and Rayquaza is no exception to the rule. The challenge is made all the more difficult because just getting to the Pokemon can be tricky in Pokemon Emerald. Players have to zip through Sky Pillar on a Mach Bike to get past certain cracks in the floor that can send them plummeting back down to the ground floor. Once that puzzle is complete, fans can battle Rayquaza to capture it, but this player didn’t follow the usual routine.
Pokemon Player’s Shiny Rayquaza Encounter Upsets Fans
On Reddit, user CyZnRg shared a gameplay video demonstrating their run to get to Rayquaza. After making their way through Sky PIllar flawlessly, they started their encounter with Rayquaza, which turned out to be a Shiny. Since Rayquaza is a scripted encounter in this game, players only get one shot at the Pokemon being Shiny, and the odds of encountering any Shiny Pokemon are extremely low. Players were delighted by the discovery, but their happiness quickly came to an end as CyZnRg called on their Mewtwo to use Self Destruct, destroying the Rayquaza in one hit. After ending the battle without a capture, the player simply walks out of the tower.
Pokemon fans in the comments have shared their reactions to the clip, with the overall mood ranging from stunned to furious. Players lamented the loss of the Rayquaza, considering that most players would consider themselves extraordinarily lucky to encounter a Shiny version of it. Those fans said they felt “betrayed,” while others pointed out that Shiny hunters would hate the player. Others were simply stunned that the fan was able to navigate the Sky Pillar so readily.
While this moment has upset some fans, others have pointed out that there’s a strong likelihood that the Rayquaza was made Shiny through cheats. Others have noted that it may have been a tool-assisted run, which would explain the OP’s ease of moving through the Sky Pillar, too. If that’s the case, a lot of players wouldn’t find it to be quite as upsetting, but more likely than not, the OP shared this clip to purposefully set off the community, which they’ve certainly succeeded in doing.
