One Piece: The Best Users Of Average Devil Fruits, Explained

Devil Fruits in One Piece come in all shapes and sizes. Throughout the series, there have been hundreds of fruits that have been introduced which can range from powerful enough to destroy the world to so random and weak that they only have very specific uses, if any at all. Typically, the strongest characters in the world have Devil Fruits that either reflect their strength or are the reasons why they are so formidable in the first place.

On the other hand, there are a few Devil Fruits that seemingly have no use at all, least of all in combat settings. However, a Devil Fruit’s power often falls back onto the user themselves, as many One Piece characters have regular or weak fruits on the face of it, but are often so creative that they can use them in ways no one else has thought of to make themselves far stronger. So, let’s take a look at these characters.

Charlotte Cracker Was Able To Make Things That Could Withstand Gear 4

Bisu Bisu no Mi – Biscuit-Biscuit Fruit

Category

Paramecia Type

  • His constructs were incredibly durable.

Back when Charlotte Cracker made his first appearance, he showcased Devil Fruit mastery that is largely unseen in the series. Though he originally took a completely different form, Cracker was then shown to be an exceptionally powerful fighter whose Devil Fruit ability shouldn’t have been as formidable as it was. Through the Bisu Bisu no Mi, Cracker’s only ability was to create biscuits out of nothing.

How’d you like the taste of my biscuits?!

While this doesn’t seem like a good power to have at all, Cracker used it masterfully, as he could make many constructs and armor that could all act individually. The biscuit itself was incredibly durable and was able to withstand many blows from Luffy’s Gear 4 form, which makes use of Armament Haki. What should have been just another average food-related Devil Fruit turned into one of the best defensive fruits in the series.

Vander Decken Almost Destroyed Fishman Island With His Devil Fruit Power

A Terrifying Devil Fruit Ability

Mato Mato no Mi – Mark-Mark Fruit

Paramecia Type

  • He used the ability quite well.

Vander Decken is an often forgotten about character within the wider One Piece world. Despite this, his use of the Mato Mato no Mi is incredibly creative and is possibly the best way for this Devil Fruit to be used at all. Essentially, this fruit allows Vander Decken to hit anything and anyone he wants to upon touching them with one hand and then throwing a projectile with another. No matter where it’s thrown, the object will find its way to the target.

You morons! I never miss my target – I think!

While not entirely useless, many would think that such a fruit wouldn’t be used for much more than simple offense. However, Vander Decken showed how powerful the fruit can be in the Fishman Island arc when he touched the Arc Noah and made it head straight for the island itself. Due to the Arc Noah being far bigger than Fishman Island, it would have easily destroyed it, showing just how powerful this fruit can be in the right hands.

Nico Robin Uses Her Devil Fruit Perfectly Well In Utility And Offense

A Really Creative User of the Fruit

Devil Fruit

Hana Hana no Mi – Flower-Flower Fruit

Category

Paramecia

  • One of the best users of their fruits.

On the surface, the ability of the Hana Hana no Mi is very basic, in that it only allows Robin to multiply or form massive versions of herself or her limbs. However, throughout the series, very few characters have shown creative use or mastery over their Devil Fruits as Robin has, since she has always used the fruit’s powers in both offensive and utilitarian means, where she could outright harm, help, or protect people.

Fools who don’t respect the past are doomed to repeat it!

The best example of her using it in battle was her shining moment against Black Maria in Wano, where she used the powers of her fruit to create a huge, demonic version of herself that was incredibly powerful and dangerous. On the other hand, she has shown the limbs she has sprouted from the ground to either act as beds, ladders, or even shades in the various story arcs of One Piece. Once she unlocks Haki, she will be far stronger.

Eustass Kid Managed To Make The Most Of A Simple Magnetic Fruit

A Great User Of His Devil Fruit

First Appearance

Jiki Jiki no Mi – Magnet-Magnet Fruit

Category

Paramecia Type

  • A Devil Fruit that has been Awakened.

Eustass Kid is a character who is shown a lot of disrespect among the community, and sometimes it is warranted. However, he is undeniably an incredible user of his Devil Fruit. While a magnet Devil Fruit sounds very strong on paper, it should be noted that with this fruit, Kid can only push and pull metal towards him, and the combat utility of it is greatly dependent on the amount of metal nearby for him to use in the first place.

Compared to the ‘righteous’ greed of the rulers, the criminals of the world seem much more honorable!

Still, though, Kid has repeatedly shown an impressive use of this power. Due to him also being an incredibly talented engineer, Kid uses the magnetic properties of his fruit to craft powerful weapons that can deal a ton of damage, and with the Awakening of the Jiki Jiki no Mi’s full power, he can assign polarity to other things and use them as magnets as well, marking him as a truly exceptional user of an otherwise alright Devil Fruit.

Donquixote Doflamingo Managed To Take Over A Country With His Fruit

One Of The Most Infamous Powers In The Series

One Piece - Donquixote Doflamingo creating strings with his Devil Fruit.

Devil Fruit

Ito Ito no Mi – String-String Fruit

Category

Paramecia Type

  • The most manipulative Devil Fruit of them all.

On the face of it, the ability to create strings out of nothing doesn’t seem all that special. However, only through someone as powerful, sadistic, and smart as Donquixote Doflamingo can the true powers of this Devil Fruit shine, as he used the strings to manipulate and control an entire nation to come under his heel. By using these strings, he managed to control King Riku and all of his forces to turn on the citizens of Dressrosa so he could take over as the hero.

Kids who have never known peace and kids who have never known war have different values!

Offensively, the Ito Ito no Mi is no slouch either. The strings that Doflamingo created are incredibly strong and sharp, meaning that they can slice entire buildings and land masses without breaking. He is also someone who has Awakened his Devil Fruit, allowing him to turn external objects into massive bundles of strings that he can control as well, marking him as one of the strongest and most creative Devil Fruit users of all time.

One Piece can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
