No Man’s Sky: Best Corvette Upgrades to Get First

Corvettes are custom-built spaceships in No Man’s Sky, with players able to go wild with designs and upgrades. While some Corvette parts, known as modules, are purely aesthetic, the same cannot be said for engines, reactors, shields, weapons, and even wings for stabilization. While resources are limited and players only have a few modules for their first Corvette, there are some upgrades worth prioritizing.

Collecting enough of these will help players make the best Corvette builds in No Man’s Sky, although they will, of course, need to get creative to fit everything in and make their Corvette look great.

How To Get More Corvette Parts In No Man’s Sky

To get more Corvette parts, players will need to scan to find planets with Salvageable Scrap. On the ground, these have a yellow icon and can be spotted with binoculars. Use the Terrain Manipulator to unearth the Salvage Containers, which, once destroyed, will drop random Corvette modules.

Players can either use the ones they get or trade them at the Corvette Workshop for ones they prefer. Corvette Workshops are located in all Space Stations.

The Best Corvette Parts & Upgrades To Get First In No Man’s Sky

No Man's Sky - Corvette in Workshop

In No Man’s Sky, the best Corvette parts to get first are as follows:

Shields

Shields are vital in case Sentinels or space pirates ever attack the ship. Players can stack multiple of these to increase their defenses further. Deflector Shields are currently the best.

  • Deflector Shield: +9% Shield Strength
  • Ion Barrier: +8% Shield Strength
  • High-Energy Shield: +7% Shield Strength

The Ceto-Class Reactor also provides +16% Shield Strength.

Weapons

Corvettes in NMS require a single weapon to be functional, but players should stack more to add damage, increase the fire rate, and help them cool down quicker. Each of the three weapons also allows different projectiles to be fired.

  • Torpedo Launcher: +21% Heat Recovery, +10% Damage, & +9% Range
  • Photon Cannon Array: +5% Damage, +3% Heat Dispersion, & +2% Fire Rate
  • Phase Beam Array: +75% Heat Dispersion & +20% Damage

Cargo

No Man's Sky - Corvette Module - Cargo Pod

To make managing inventories easier and to stop players from constantly having to travel to bases or Space Stations, investing in additional cargo space for the Corvette is a good idea.

  • Exterior Cargo: Cargo Capsule, Cargo Pod, and Cargo Sphere each provide a moderate increase to the ship’s capacity. The only difference is how they look.
  • Internal Cargo (Storage Rack): Go into build mode while walking inside the Corvette, and up to 9 large Storage Racks can be added. They cost 3 Metal Platings and 1 Microprocessor.

Reactors

Each of the four reactors adds different buffs. Players can get all four if they wish, but this will slow the ship down and lower its maneuverability.

  • Zenith-Class Reactor: +100% Warp Cell Efficiency & 170 ly Hyperdrive Range
  • Medusa-Class Reactor: +15% Boost & +7% Manoeuvrability
  • Azimuth-Class Reactor: -20% Launch Cost, Automatic Recharging, & +16% Pulse Drive Efficiency
  • Ceto-Class Reactor: +16% Shield Strength

Mag-Field Landing Thrusters

No Man's Sky - Corvette Module - Landing Thrusters

This superior Landing Gear grants -14% Takeoff Cost and +5% Boost, which are both improvements on the basic Landing Gear.

New engines/thrusters aren’t needed once a Corvette has two. Players can add more for cosmetic value, though.
