Now for something completely different

As you may have noticed, I love to write. For over 21 years, I’ve been hitting multiple items in this space every single day.

What we have written here is of limited relevance. It really doesn’t matter because if you post one day, the next day there’s always something new in its place.I wrote playmaker To create something a little more permanent than a continuous news cycle.

In 2020, I started messing around with fiction. Yes, I wrote a crappy sci-fi football novel years ago. This time, things went with a combination of extra free time during the pandemic and a jolt of inspiration.

My father was a bookmaker in the small town where I grew up. He has connections with the wider crew and my parents have done a very good job of shielding me from the reality of what they did (not my dad as far as I know ).

On my birthday night in 2020, my dad and I had a very vivid dream about what he may or may not have done in the 1970s. He gave me an idea for a novel about mob life in a small town. I started writing the next day.

One thing led to another, and since then I’ve written six novels. I have some ideas for No. 8, No. 9 and No. 10. It’s a nightly, nightly process where you spend an hour or two writing and re-writing, editing and re-editing to reset your mind. The brain of the day after constantly thinking, talking and writing about football. I finish one, start another, tinker with the previous one, work on it, start another without any real plan or strategy.

Last December, I wrote a Christmas novel. It was based on an idea that had been spinning around in my head for over a decade. As I sat down and started hunting, words and sentences, paragraphs and chapters flowed. It felt like the story itself was being written rather than me writing the story.

So what the hell do I do with these things? One thing I learned from playmaker Experience has shown that even with not-so-poor advances from publishers, writing a book doesn’t change anyone’s life – with very rare exceptions. And after I’m dead and gone, I hope to finally put together something that people will enjoy reading, but I don’t expect to make pennies from this hobby that’s become part of my daily routine. You don’t need to. routine.

The whole idea was to create something that people would enjoy reading. So why not let people read it and maybe (if they’re a little drunk) enjoy it?

That’s basically what I’m doing with the Christmas novel I wrote myself last year. is. Although unofficial, this is an experiment to see if someone could read this piece and perhaps (if slightly drunk) enjoy it.

the book is way homeIf you love the holiday season, chances are you’ll love it. If you’ve ever dealt with the pain of losing a loved one, this story may resonate even more.

Post one chapter a day from Thanksgiving to Christmas. There are enough chapters to fit in that his 32-day window.
