Selecting a search result in the side panel replaces the main window with a new website. This can make site-hopping a lot less painful. Google itself calls this feature a “productivity tool that opens a sidebar with your search results. It makes it faster and easier to move on.”
Using the side panel is like looking through a library shelf. You can open a book, make sure it’s not what you want, then put it back and get another one. The same is true for Chrome, and you don’t have to worry about wasting your time clicking on websites.
One task where this feature is especially useful is online shopping. Quickly and easily compare prices and products from different vendors.
Google Chrome Track Price Feature
