This is the new Inkar x Pininfarina iPhone case. Only 99 were made and it has the distinction of being the first (but probably not the last) iPhone case designed by Pininfarina, perhaps the most famous automotive design house in the world.
Inspiration for the case Pininfarina ModuloPictured below is a true icon of the concept car that helped usher in the sharp wedge-shaped automobiles that dominated the 1970s and beyond.
Each of these cases is engraved with a serial number and is crafted from a selection of premium materials, including deadstock leather from Pininfarina automobiles. When ordering, you can choose from 5 colors, 2 types of lens leather, and 10 types of back plates (leather, natural wood, carbon fiber, or aluminum).
This is the Ferrari Modulo concept car, designed by Pininfarina’s Paolo Martin and unveiled at the 1970 Geneva Motor Show. Considered his one of the most influential concept cars of the era.
Pininfarina designer Paolo Rugaro styled this case, which took two years to develop, and it certainly doesn’t come cheap. Only the first five have redline silver cases and are available for both the iPhone 13 Pro and the new 14 Pro.
The sale will open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis on December 1st on Inkar’s website. This Inkar x Pininfarina creation isn’t the first high-end his smartphone case, but it will be interesting to see if the automaker starts a trend of developing similar proprietary cases.
Each of these cases comes with its own individual NFT as a digital certificate. This NFT will bump its owner to the front of the queue to order new Inkar designs in the future.
