Me Put on Oura Ring smart ring first I have been using it continuously since then during the summer of 2021. It’s still some of my most worn wearable tech, and it’s unusual for a product to be this sticky.
But lately, I’ve started to wonder what the future holds for it. .
I would like to start by asking why I still wear my Oular ring. First, I like the way it looks. I recently changed to the silver version of the 3rd generation ring. The shiny black version I used to wearIt’s not very noticeable on your fingers, but it still shines in the sun. This is not the case with some smartwatches. However, it does collect some scratches and scuffs, which you’ll see more here than in the gloss black version, but less than the stealth design we first tried.
Second, I love the reliability of the Oura Ring. It syncs flawlessly, never fails to record activity or sleep at night, and the data displayed in the app is clear and easy to understand. After 6 months with the silver 3rd gen model, I’m still happy with the battery life as it still gives me about 5 days of use. However, I’m not sure how long the battery can sustain this performance. Digital Trends’ Mobile His Staff His Writer Christine Chan also wears a 3rd generation Oura His ring.
I love that it tracks my health and activity even when I’m wearing a traditional watch and that it doesn’t look out of place or overly technical. It’s blended in, but it still gets quite a bit of attention, and I’m often asked if it’s the Oura ring, or if I like it. It was either interesting and helpful or stated how much I appreciated the good battery life. When I think about recommending , other negative things come to mind.
To understand what’s changing my mind, I need to talk about Oura Ring’s features.since i last I wrote about wearing the Oura Ring in May 2022blood oxygen (Sp02) monitoring and workout heart rate tracking have both arrived, but have been non-functional since they were announced at the end of 2021.
Sp02 levels are monitored throughout the night, and the app displays standard percent blood oxygen numbers, as well as a summary of whether the fluctuations have altered breathing. The app classifies how severe the faults it logs are, so it’s helpful, but it’s hard to figure out what to do with them. It’s also unfortunate.
of Workout heart rate tracking Coming in May this year, it covers walking, cycling and running, and displays your maximum, minimum and average heart rate. And if you’ve worked out outdoors, you’ll also get insight into how hard you’ve worked, along with a map of your route. It’s a useful (albeit basic) fitness tracking system that, when combined with sleep data, can help provide more insight into your daily readiness.
The Oularing app clearly shows your daily health status. You can also drill down to see more details, such as your average daily heart rate information, recovery time, and sleep details. Heart rate variability (HRV) data can also be displayed, but is rather complicated to interpret because, unlike heart rate, there is no simple baseline that applies to most people. I know how HRV fluctuates, but I don’t know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, and how to change (or not change) it. The inability to easily interpret or act on the data it collects is not unique to Oura Ring, but to most health and fitness wearables.
I’m happy to see the Sp02 and workout heart rate tracking coming, but it’s been a long time coming. Oura’s track record of slow feature releases hasn’t changed as other previously announced features aren’t ready yet. You start worrying about the future.
When Oura announced heart rate tracking for workouts, It also mentions new workout options More will be added in the coming months. But six months later, no other users arrived. Adding a generic workout mode isn’t too complicated. Given that many people may regularly engage in activities other than walking, running, and biking (I know), it’s a pain not being able to add them. You can access the Oura app very easily.
These are not really solutionIt’s hard to justify buying two wearables when one can or should do the job.
To overcome this, wear apple watch, the Oura app syncs with your Apple Health or Google Fit enabled smartwatch to track other workouts.Oura ring too Sync with Strava, fills in some gaps, but is still a platform focused on running, swimming and riding. In addition, we also need another wearable. solutionIt’s hard to justify buying two wearables when one can or should do the job.
apart from November blog post We’re talking about the imminent arrival of a similarly promised new sleep stages algorithm, but it’s not out on my Oura Ring yet. The algorithm is coming as a beta feature in the app, and it said there would be an option to turn it on if invited to test it. is.This is due to the hype around it and the fact that it Sandaime Ring Promotional Items Over a year ago.
I continue to be frustrated with the slow pace of updates from Oura. It’s an expensive product that comes with a subscription package, limited information about when new features will actually come out, waiting for new features is not what I would expect and time It becomes less and less acceptable as time passes. We’re still waiting for the features announced last year to arrive, but more importantly, we haven’t even heard of Oura’s next feature. And that’s a different kind of problem.
New smartphones almost certainly have hardware changes to facilitate new features that require upgrades, but Oura is limited in its ability to accommodate ring designs. It also limits the number of new sensors that can fit inside. What we do with these sensors and the software around them is Oura’s selling point. Oura charges a monthly subscription to continue viewing data in the app, so we want a clear load of new features and software improvements to ensure sufficient motivation to continue paying in the long run. I need a map.
But not even one. Can you trust any of the timelines, if at all? I can’t believe it. It’s now been a year since the third generation of the product was released, but unfortunately the lack of features and lack of information about what the future holds makes monthly payments for Oura Ring less appealing. increase.

great health and fitness products like apple watch series 8 When apple watch ultra It’s frustrating for Oura Ring when you don’t have a subscription package attached, but you’re constantly receiving important feature updates. I really like the hardware and find the app and its data to continue to be useful, but dragging Oura’s heels erodes confidence and concerns me about the silence about what I have to look forward to .
Based on my continued experience with Oura Rings, I am convinced that: Smart rings have great potential for health and fitness trackingbut it’s starting to feel like more concept My beloved smartring aura ring is on my finger, but if it doesn’t meet my daily needs now and in the future, the company is in danger of me taking it off. This is because once you unplug your wearable device, it is highly unlikely that you will be able to put it back on.
