Marvel Snap has become one of the best avenues to introduce casual fans to all corners of the Marvel Universe. Each season places a single new addition in the spotlight while layering them on a thematic backdrop. Although Marvel Snap hasn’t yet announced what the next big step will be, Marvel Comics has spent the last year setting up the perfect candidate.
Marvel’s Ultimate Universe began late last year and serves as a hard reboot to the earlier Ultimate Marvel imprint. The Ultimate Universe has been a smash hit so far, with each series in its small library finding critical and commercial success. Ultimate Universe will likely become more prominent over time, and Marvel Snap is the perfect place to build hype.

Marvel Snap Leaks Have a Vacuum Waiting to be Filled
Leaks are relatively commonplace for Marvel Snap, with players already able to set up their plans until the end of the year: September is focused on Symbiote Spider-Man with Agent Venom following in October and, considering all the other new Venom-related cards, the Halloween theme is crystal clear. Plus, current datamining suggests that Asgard will be the focus of the November Season Pass, with Surtur and Gorr the God Butcher being particular standouts.
As of now, fans are still completely in the dark about what the following seasons will look like. December and January are perhaps the most important seasons to nail, with the latter setting the pace for the rest of 2025. Thankfully, Marvel Snap could use an upcoming event to start the year with a bang.
Ultimate Marvel Laid the Foundation for Ultimate Universe
Ultimate Marvel was once a flagship imprint of Marvel Comics, although its reputation slowly declined in its later years. Ultimate Marvel reached the height of its prominence in 2015’s Secret Wars event, where alternate universes like the one seen in Ultimate Marvel collided with the main continuity. Written by Jonathan Hickman, Secret Wars concluded Ultimate Marvel by destroying it. During its lifespan, two characters stood above the rest and managed to survive the collapse of their universe.
Miles Morales was first introduced in Ultimate Marvel and is now better known for the Spider-Verse films. Miles was the imprint’s most popular character by far, so it’s no mystery why writers and editors decided to keep him around. Miles isn’t alone, thanks to the villainous counterpart of Mr. Fantastic, now known as The Maker.
Ultimate Universe’s First Anniversary Shows the Potential of a Marvel Snap Crossover
Marvel Snap Should Follow Up On Ultimate Universe: One Year In
The Maker is the main villain of the Ultimate Universe imprint, with his imprisonment at the beginning of the story serving as a ticking clock. Because of this ticking clock factor, Ultimate Universe operates somewhat in “real time.” To continue this real time trend, keep track of The Maker’s imprisonment, and summarize the events of the story so far, Marvel laid out an exciting plan for Ultimate Universe’s first anniversary.
This event will be marked by a one-shot titled “Ultimate Universe: One Year In,” which is set to release in December of this year. Not only will it mark a year since the beginning of this imprint, but it also doubles as the halfway mark to The Maker’s escape. “One Year In” will reportedly reveal how The Maker’s Council plans to launch a counterattack against the heroes now rising across the universe. This event will set the pace for the next year of Ultimate Universe, and it could serve the same purpose for Marvel Snap.
The Maker is the Perfect Candidate for Marvel Snap’s January Season Pass
The Maker’s role as the main villain of the Ultimate Universe makes him the perfect character to represent it in Marvel Snap. In fact, The Maker is already one of the most high-profile characters to not already be in the game. Furthermore, Mr. Fantastic’s inclusion in Marvel Snap would give developers an easy foundation to work from. On the other hand, they could distinguish him with a unique ability, and demonstrate the furthest extent of The Maker’s power.
Marvel Snap heavily relies on new characters to stir hype in its community, with the Season Pass being its main engine for doing so. Considering its proximity to Ultimate Universe: One Year In, Marvel Snap could use its January season for cross-promotion. Ultimate Universe would be shared with a broader audience, while Marvel Snap would benefit from the popularity of the newborn imprint. Although there is not yet a public plan for content after December, this seems like an opportunity that developers can’t pass up.
