Lego Voyagers Is Building a Brand New Co-Op Experience

LEGO Voyagers is an upcoming puzzle platformer from Light Brick, the studio behind the puzzle game LEGO Builder’s Journey. LEGO Voyagers is aiming to build on the puzzles from LEGO Builder’s Journey by adding in intuitive platforming mechanics, as players become LEGO bricks tasked with traversing a range of environments with their friends.

Game Rant recently saw a preview of LEGO Voyagers in action. The game challenges players to work together to solve increasingly complex puzzles using other bricks to build bridges, switches, and a range of other gadgets. The game is being published by Annapurna Interactive and offers both offline and online co-op. LEGO Voyagers also comes with Friend Pass, meaning players who own a copy can invite friends who don’t own the game to play together.

LEGO Voyagers Tasks Players to Use Their Imagination

The primary mechanic in LEGO Voyagers is physics-based movement. As a brick, the player doesn’t walk, but rather ‘tumbles.’ Light Brick Studio describes it as a more controlled version of rolling, and seeing this come to life in the game, it’s truly an apt description. Tilting the analog stick causes the brick to roll, gaining momentum the harder it is pushed. Players can also connect to a host of other bricks across the environment, which makes for some innovative gameplay scenarios.

Players may use the ability to connect to other bricks in order to build bridges, platforms, or ladders to whole new areas. They can also connect to each other, sometimes at specific points in the game where they must work as a team to traverse difficult terrain while stuck together.

LEGO Voyagers Also Offers a Build Mode

In addition to being able to attach to other bricks and build things that way, LEGO Voyagers will also include a creative build mode where players can create and place bricks more deliberately. Light Brick hopes that this will strike the right balance between expressiveness and ease of use, granting players the freedom to build however they please.

LEGO Voyagers doesn’t feature any speaking or language in the traditional sense. Instead, the bricks can ‘sing’ to convey several emotions. This mechanic will act as the primary way players communicate with each other in-game. Players may alert each other to points of interest by pressing the appropriate button to sing, quickly garnering the other player’s attention. So far, it looks to be a promising family friendly co-op game true to the series’ roots.
