Looking for a place to vent your anger?
Train stations are places to vent your anger on social media platforms, according to new research.
Researchers at Kyoto Institute of Technology (KIT) in Japan gathered information about specific buildings and other places from Open Street Maps and public geographic databases.
The team combined this information with nearly two million tweets from people in London and San Francisco to find that train stations are where people get most angry.
Bridges and bus stops are other modes of transportation that people express their frustration on social media. WA passengers seem to feel the same way.
And who can blame them? Nothing is more frustrating than a late bus or missed train.
Anger isn’t the only emotion flowing from you at public transport locations, but expectations, disgust, and some joy are expressed.
Traffic areas of the city are a source of angry posts and tweets, but the team also found areas where people were most likely to be happiest.
No, the happiest places on earth didn’t include Disneyland.
The survey found that tweets from hotels and restaurants showed much higher levels of pleasure.
Who doesn’t feel good when you have a full stomach and a good night’s sleep?
Additionally, the study identified specific events where people exhibited high levels of emotion. New Year’s Eve, for example, coincided with more excitement and happiness in both London and San Francisco.
But the 2017 Women’s March, a protest after Donald Trump took office, showed levels of anger, disgust and sadness increased significantly in San Francisco.
Remember, the next time you miss your train, the internet needs to know.
