Ghost of Tsushima: Blood-Stained Shrine Puzzle Solution
There are three Wind Shrines in Ghost of Tsushima’s Iki Island DLC, and each one of them serves as a puzzle. Players that solve these riddles will be rewarded with special armor pieces that reference other PlayStation exclusives, including Bloodborne. To obtain the Bloodborne armor pieces in Ghost of Tsushima, which are dubbed the Yharnam Helm and Vestments, players must overcome the Blood-Stained Shrine, and this guide is here to assist with that endeavor.
Updated September 17, 2024, by Hamza Haq: Bloodborne is one of the biggest games released by From Software, even overshadowing its Soulsborne brethren in some circles because of its gothic aesthetic and different flavor of enemies and world design. The impact it has had on the gaming industry is massive, with titles like Lies of P, Salt and Sanctuary, and others being directly influenced by Bloodborne in one way or another.
Ghost of Tsushima isn’t a game that needs to pay homage to any other, with the devs (Sucker Punch Productions) being legendary game creators themselves. That said, the fact that Sucker Punch saw fit to include an unmistakably Bloodborne-inspired armor set in their game says everything you need to know about the game’s reach. Still, it should be noted that the Bloodborne armor set is not a completely new armor but a reskin of an existing armor set in the game. Or dye, to use the in-game terminology.
Ghost of Tsushima: Blood-Stained Shrine Location
The first step toward obtaining the Bloodborne armor is to locate the Blood-Stained Shrine, which is positioned at Gonoura Cape on the westside of Iki Island in Ghost of Tsushima. While players should eventually be able to see this location marked directly on their in-game maps, those that cannot are advised to reference the map that is found below. Upon arrival at this location, players will find a large statute and a scroll, and they are now ready to address the Blood-Stained Shrine puzzle.
Ghost of Tsushima: Blood-Stained Shrine Puzzle Solution
To solve the Blood-Stained Shrine puzzle, players should begin by equipping the Kensei Armor in Ghost of Tsushima. For the uninitiated, this is one of the very best armor sets in the game, and it is earned by completing the Six Blades of Kojiro Mythic Tale. This Mythic Tale can be started by speaking with the musician Yamato at Umugi Cove in the southwest corner of Toyotama, and it primarily centers around defeating five Straw Hats.
With the Kensei Armor equipped, players should jump from the high rocks that surround the Blood-Stained Shrine in order to take some damage. Players should then approach the Shrine and press down on the D-Pad to do a bit of healing. This action will trigger a short cutscene, wherein Jin Sakai is surrounded by a flock of crows, and players will receive the Yharnam Helm and Yharnam Vestments when it reaches its conclusion.
To note, while the Yharnam Helm is a discrete item that can be equipped and removed, the Yharnam Vestments are actually a variant style of the Kensei Armor. Players can thus toggle the Vestments on and off by pressing left and right on the D-Pad when they have the relevant armor selected in the Outfits menu. As such, Ghost of Tsushima fans will not always be required to dress like Eileen the Crow when they are donning the Kensei Armor, as they can easily switch back to its default look.
