Anguish is a Handgun in Remnant 2‘s The Awakened King DLC, and it is the most complicated expansion item to unlock. Indeed, there are many steps on the path toward obtaining this weapon, though none of them are extremely difficult to complete. This guide is here to provide full details on those steps, and it will help players get their hands on Anguish in Remnant 2.

To note, players who die after completing the second step that is detailed below will lose all the progress that they have made toward earning the Anguish handgun. As such, fans that are pursuing this weapon are strongly advised to play on Remnant 2‘s easiest difficulty setting to minimize their chances of dying and being forced to start from scratch.

Remnant 2: Anguish Weapon Guide

1. Start a New Campaign

After installing Remnant 2‘s The Awakened King DLC, players should roll a brand-new campaign and play it until they reach Root Earth. Players should then work through the first section of Root Earth, stopping when they trigger the checkpoint just beyond the combat encounter in the train yard.

2. Ethereal Manor Event (Losomn)

Players should now roll Losomn in Adventure Mode until they generate a world with Remnant 2‘s Ethereal Manor event. This event can seemingly appear in any of the Losomn dungeons that are on fire, and fans should look for a large stone building beyond an open gate in the Butcher’s Quarters, Cotton’s Kiln, Lenmark District, and Sunken Haunt. Players will find a seated NPC inside that building, and they should approach him to be sent to the Ethereal Manor.

Upon reaching the Ethereal Manor, players should use the Liquid Escape consumable in their inventory to travel to the Consecrated Throne. Fans should then use the Consecrated Thrones’ checkpoint to travel to Ward 13.

As previously noted, players will lose their progress if they die after this point.

3. Talk to the Dran in Ward 13

Players should now head to the location in Ward 13 that is marked on the map above. Here, fans will find a Dran standing by a flaming barrel, and they should interact with that NPC.

4. Talk to the Dran in The Red Throne (Yaesha)

Remnant 2 players should now roll Yaesha in Adventure Mode until they generate a world that begins with the Red Throne map. After loading onto that map, fans should progress to the courtyard where the path splits, follow the path to the right, and speak with the Dran in the room at the end of that path.

5. Talk to the Dran in The Labyrinth (Campaign)

Players should now return to their campaign and make their way to the Fractured Ingress checkpoint within the Labyrinth. Fans should then use the nearby stairs to get on top of the large portal and speak with the Dran that they encounter.

6. Talk to Dran in the Forgotten Prison (N’Erud)

The next step is to roll N’Erud in Adventure Mode until a world that starts with the Forgotten Prison map is generated. Players must then play through Remnant 2‘s Tal Ratha story and speak with the Dran near the checkpoint that immediately precedes the boss fight (Tal Ratha’s Refuge).

7. Talk to Dran in Ashen Wasteland (Root Earth)

It is time to return to the campaign once again, and players should make their way to the checkpoint that they triggered in Root Earth at the end of Step 1. The Dran is standing near the fence by that checkpoint, and fans should speak with him.

8. Talk to Dran in the Tormented Asylum (Losomn)

Players should now roll Losomn in Adventure Mode until they generate a world that starts with the Morrow Parish map. Fans must then work through Remnant 2‘s Nightweaver story to reach the Tormented Asylum. Immediately upon entering that map, players should turn right, check the alcove on their right, and speak with the Dran that they find there.

9. Use Dran’s Dream

The final conversation with the Dran will yield the Dran’s Dream consumable item, and players should use it to be transported to an area where they can collect the Occult Vessel. This material can then be taken to McCabe in Ward 13, and that NPC is capable of turning the Occult Vessel into the Anguish weapon in Remnant 2.

Remnant 2 is now available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
