Gervonta Davis was arrested in Florida Tuesday afternoon after hitting the woman on the right side of the head with a “closed hand slap,” according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office case report.
According to the incident report, a name redacted woman who did not live with Davis suffered a small abrasion on the inside of her upper lip on the right side of her mouth.
Broward County Sheriff’s Office records show the 135-pound boxer was arrested Tuesday at 2:50 p.m. said to have added He was released Wednesday afternoon after a court hearing with bail set at $1,000, according to Broward Sherriff’s Office.
In an audio of the 911 call obtained by ESPN, the woman said, “Please help me. I need help. I’m trying to get home and my car has a baby and it’s been attacked…he says I’m I’m going to kill you.”
After a while, the call ended. She called the police again 50 seconds after her and she cried and said, “I have to go. I am in danger now.”
Police were then contacted by a Mercedes-Benz emergency center representative who said the woman had pressed the emergency button on her car and the man was “speeding towards her.”
According to reports, Davis was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the alleged incident.
Later Wednesday, Davis denied the allegations in a since-deleted social media post.
“I will never lay my hand on my child’s mother or my daughter.” Some of Davis’ posts said before they were deleted. I’ve been quiet for a while…that’s the only reason I’m doing this now…just to clear my name!”
The 28-year-old Baltimore native will headline PBC at the Showtime PPV event on January 7th in Washington, DC against Hector Luis Garcia. The match is planned as a prelude to Ryan’s super fight with Garcia on April 25 in Las Vegas.
PBC, Davis’ boxing promoter, declined to comment.
When asked if the Jan. 7 match between Davis and Garcia would go ahead as planned, Showtime told ESPN that it was aware of it and was looking into the situation.
There is precedent for PBC and Showtime pulling boxers out of the fight. Davis was scheduled to fight Roland Romero in December 2021, but Romero was pulled from PBC in a Showtime PPV matchup following sexual assault allegations.
Isaac Cruz replaced Romero and lost to Davis by unanimous decision. In January, an investigation into the allegations against Romero closed without any charges being filed. Romero was stopped by Davis in the 6th round of May’s PBC on Showtime fight.
Davis is also scheduled to appear in Baltimore Circuit Court on Feb. 16 for alleged involvement in a hit-and-run accident in November 2020, according to court records. Davis is accused of fleeing the scene of a crash involving four people, including a pregnant woman. , facing 14 sins. He is also facing lawsuits.
He had previously faced a misdemeanor charge in February 2020 in Coral Gables, Fla., where he was accused of abusing his ex-girlfriend. Rejected on the 13th.
Davis (27-0, 25 KOs) is a former 130-pound titleholder. He is ranked third at 135 pounds by ESPN.
