- They managed to shrink their character using the Cheat Terminal mod, which is available for the PC and Xbox versions of the game.
One Fallout 4 player has recently decided to challenge themselves by attempting to play through the game with a character that’s the size of an action figure. They did so with the help of just a single mod that’s available for both the PC and select console versions of Fallout 4.
As is the case with all of Bethesda’s modern RPGs, the fourth mainline installment in the Fallout series can be approached in a wide variety of ways. This immense level of freedom, combined with the game’s inherent moddability, is what has previously inspired countless Fallout 4 challenge runs, some more excruciating than others.

Fallout 4 Player Attempts Difficult Action Figure Run
One particularly demanding example of such a run was recently attempted by Reddit user TheRedneckGamer, who decided to try beating Fallout 4 as an action figure. To that end, they shrunk their character to the approximate size of Dogmeat’s muzzle, as seen in the screenshot that they had recently shared on the r/Fallout subreddit. This was accomplished with the Cheat Terminal mod, which includes a setting that lets players adjust the size of their Sole Survivor. The add-on, developed by modders NexusAU and gir489, is available via the Creation Club for both the PC and Xbox versions of Fallout 4. It has been downloaded over 20 million times across all platforms as of August 2024.
Playing the game in this tiny form proved to be quite a challenge, with TheRedneckGamer revealing that just walking from Diamond City to Fallout 4‘s Fort Hagen to the west took them a full hour. Combat is also more difficult when the Sole Survivor is the size of an action figure; while shrinking the protagonist didn’t affect their stats or damage output, the player said that they were mostly forced to attack enemy feet in this tiny form.
TheRedneckGamer originally shared this challenge run attempt on August 19. The player hasn’t posted any updates since then, making it unclear whether their action figure-sized Sole Survivor made any more progress in their endeavor to conquer the post-apocalyptic Commonwealth.
Since the Cheat Terminal mod effectively serves as a convenient user interface for the game’s built-in console, it was unaffected by the recently debuted Fallout 4 next-gen update. Released in late April 2024, the next-gen patch broke a wide variety of popular mods, some of which still haven’t been fixed four months later. Its arrival also delayed the debut of the much-anticipated Fallout: London mod, which was finally launched in late July 2024 but still doesn’t work with the next-gen update, thus requiring PC players to downgrade their version of the game.
