As you delve into the fight against Death’s minions in Death Must Die, you will start acquiring a variety of equipment to help you power up for your future battles. While Death Must Die offers 10 different equipment slots for stacking various types of powerful stats, you will eventually need to create builds to beat runs set at higher difficulty.
In Death Must Die, your character builds revolve around various stats obtained through talents and equipment. You can easily farm as much equipment as you want by repeatedly playing acts or purchasing them from the shop in exchange for gold coins. However, for talents, you will have to visit the Constellarium in Death Must Die. In this guide, you will learn everything you need to know about the Constellarium, the talent tree system of Death Must Die.
Death Must Die: All Stats Explained
Death Must Die has tons of unique stats to enhance your character builds and give you new playstyles to have fun against waves of enemies.
How to Unlock the Constellarium in Death Must Die
In Death Must Die, you began your battle against Death in the Time’s Realm. Once you have defeated the Necromancer in Act I, you will unlock the Constellarium. The Necromancer is a boss enemy who appears after you have survived for seven minutes in the first act.
As its name suggests, the Necromancer summons hordes of undead skeletons every few seconds. Using characters with AOE attacks like Merris or collecting summon blessings makes the Necromancer boss fight easy. Once you have defeated the Necromancer for the first time, you will be able to access the Constellarium located in the middle of the Time’s Realm.
How to Use the Constellarium in Death Must Die
The Constellarium is quite similar to the Mirror of Night from the highly acclaimed roguelike, Hades. You can access the Constellarium by heading right from the Star Crux. Approach the Constellarium and press E to Reveal Stars and view talents for all your characters. Each character in Death Must Die has over 30 talents. To unlock a talent, you will first need to collect a resource called Cosmic Essence.
Cosmic Essence is a drop reward for defeating boss enemies in Death Must Die. You can obtain one or two Cosmic Essences by defeating bosses spawned after a certain amount of time has passed. The first boss arrives after you have survived for seven minutes, followed by the second at the 14-minute mark, and the final boss appears at 20 minutes. The final boss drops two Cosmic Essences, but all other bosses drop only one.
Cosmic Essences are exclusive to characters who collect them. If you pick up the essence using Avoron, you cannot use it to unlock Lorien’s or any other character’s talents. After collecting Cosmic Essence, go to the Constellarium and select the character to view their talent tree. Initially, you will only be able to unlock the talents in the first row. Once you have spent at least five Cosmic Essences, you can unlock talents in the second row.
Similarly, you will need to unlock more talent levels to obtain the powerful talents locked in the last couple of rows. If your build does not turn out to be as good as you thought it would, you always have the option to spend 500 gold coins to reset talents and regain all Cosmic Essences.
