Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’s Reveal Trailer Passes an Unfortunate Milestone

The worldwide reveal trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has surpassed an unfortunate milestone, accumulating close to 400,000 dislikes in less than one week. Although Call of Duty has consistently remained one of the best-selling video game franchises of all time, the community seems to be growing tired of feeling unheard, and it’s beginning to show its anger by targeting the next entry in the series, Black Ops 7.

After a mind-bending first trailer back in June, publisher Activision finally pulled back the curtain on Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 with a worldwide reveal during Gamescom Opening Night Live. The new trailer gave fans a great look at the Black Ops 2 sequel, which will see some iconic characters, such as David Mason and the villainous Raul Menendez, make a return. As the game will be set in the year 2035, ten years after the events of Black Ops 2, fans can expect plenty of semi-futuristic elements in the game’s Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies.

Black Ops 7’s Reveal Trailer Has Nearly 400,000 Dislikes

It’s fair to say that the reveal trailer for Black Ops 7 hasn’t gone down well with players. In fact, it’s being received so poorly that it may actually benefit Battlefield 6, as there are hundreds of comments stating that it made them pre-order EA’s upcoming shooter instead. Now, less than a week since its release, the trailer has amassed nearly 400,000 dislikes. According to an extension that reenables the dislike counter on YouTube, the trailer currently has 385,172 dislikes and only 54,000 likes. However, it should be noted that these extensions aren’t always entirely accurate, so the number of dislikes may be slightly skewed.

With Battlefield 6 receiving so much praise during its open beta period, many expected Activision to be hitting panic stations. However, a recent report claims that Activision executives aren’t concerned about Battlefield 6 as the Call of Duty franchise is “too big to fail.” While that may be the case, fans are growing increasingly tired of the non-stop collaborations, lackluster post-launch updates, bugs, incessant microtransactions, unrealistic cosmetic items, and so much more.

Activision might not be concerned yet, but all signs are pointing towards Battlefield having an incredibly strong year. The open beta has already broken records for the franchise, and it looks as though Battlefield 6 is outpacing Call of Duty in pre-orders. While there’s no concrete data, the pre-orders section of the PlayStation Store displays both the Standard Edition and Phantom Edition of Battlefield 6 above Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which suggests all those comments about jumping ship to EA’s shooter really weren’t lying.
