Following its initial reveal trailer at the Xbox Games Showcase earlier this year, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has dropped a brand-new trailer at Gamescom Opening Night Live to show off its 4-player co-op campaign and the return of Dead Ops Arcade. With serious hype behind Battlefield 6, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is facing the stiffest competition that the franchise has had in years, but if the latest trailer is anything to go by, it’s definitely coming out swinging.
Recent years have been a rollercoaster ride for the Call of Duty franchise. While Call of Duty game sales have remained consistently high, the critical and fan reception to each game has varied. The 2023 Modern Warfare 3 was widely criticized, but 2024’s Black Ops 6 fared far better. Needless to say, it will be interesting to see if Black Ops 7 sticks the landing.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Confirms Co-Op Campaign and More
The previous Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 release date leak has been legitimized by the Gamescom Opening Night Live trailer, confirming that the game will be launching on November 14. The Black Ops 7 campaign will feature 4-player co-op, a great deal of level variety, and fan-favorite characters like David Mason and Raul Menendez.
The Black Ops 7 co-op campaign looks like it will be leaning in to the franchise’s weirder moments, with dreamlike landscapes for players to traverse along with grounded locales. The co-op campaign will also feature an endgame mode that encourages players to keep playing even after they’ve finished the story.
While Black Ops 7‘s presence at Gamescom Opening Night Live was mainly focused on the campaign, fans were also treated to some news on multiplayer and Zombies. Black Ops 7 will have 16 6v6 maps at launch, with 13 new maps and three remastered maps from Black Ops 2, plus two “large-scale maps.” Multiplayer will also feature an Overclock system where players can upgrade their Scorestreaks, Field Upgrades, and Equipment, and can also utilize Hybrid Combat Specialties to mix and match different Perks. A 20v20 mode called Skirmish will also be included in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
As far as Zombies goes, Black Ops 7 will once again feature round-based Zombies, along with “all-new vehicle gameplay.” Fans can look forward to the original Zombies heroes meeting up with the Black Ops 6 characters, the return of Survival maps, and the long-awaited Dead Ops Arcade 4.
More information on Black Ops 7 will come at the Call of Duty NEXT event on September 30.
