Hearthstone‘s Standard format is currently in the Year of the Pegasus, which began in March this year and will end in 2025 at a date to be announced. As part of the current cycle, in March, the devs released the first expansion, Whizbang’s Workshop, which introduced 145 new cards and the Miniaturize keyword. In July, it was Hearthsone‘s turn to add Perils in Paradise, the 27th expansion that brought another 145 cards and the Tourist keyword. The new expansion The Great Dark Beyond was announced, but all of its cards were accidentally leaked. According to a post on Resetera, the content was revealed because of Avatar of Hearthstone, a legendary card that Blizzard gave away as part of the release of patch 30.6 and the celebrations for Hearthstone‘s 10th anniversary. After claiming this card, players noticed that it was possible to view all the Great Dark Beyond cards in the collection as uncraftable. As a result, it didn’t take long for images of the collection to circulate on social media, with players debating the episode and the newly revealed cards.
New Hearthstone Expansion Explores the Lore of Another Blizzard Franchise
The Great Dark Beyond arrives on November 5 and will explore the World of Warcraft version of the space of the same name. It will bring a new round of 145 cards, a new keyword for Hearthstone players, Starship, and see the return of the Spellburst keyword. With the release of the expansion, the devs will permanently add a new minion type called Draenei, and three new demon cards, one of which is Legendary. Players who log in will also receive the Legendary minion Nexus-Prince Shaffar, which can be redeemed with the release of patch 31.6 when they open their first Great Dark Beyond pack.
The build-up to Great Dark Beyond doesn’t stop there, however, and until November 5 Hearthstone players can purchase two bundles. The Mega Bundle includes 80 card packs, 10 gold card packs, and other content such as a random Legendary signature card and a gold Legendary. The standard bundle, on the other hand, includes 60 card packs from the upcoming expansion, 2 random Legendaries, and the Prophet Velen back card. With this, Blizzard shows that it is still actively working towards providing players with another 10 years of Hearthstone.
