MultiVersus has brought some of the most notable characters from various Warner Bros. IP together in one action-packed brawler. Whether it’s Shaggy from Scooby-Doo or the recent introduction of the Powerpuff Girls, the MultiVersus roster is continuously growing. With this evolving list of characters also comes plenty of variants, and MultiVersus has added some of the game’s best skins yet.
A Super Smash Bros. style brawler based on Warner Bros. properties wouldn’t be complete without the inclusion of popular DC Comics characters. Villains and heroes, like Joker and Batman, elevate MultiVersus‘ strong character roster. However, recent skins for MultiVersus‘ DC characters have illustrated just how many great variant possibilities there are for the game’s lineup. Based on the DC Comics Dark Nights: Death Metal comic arc, MultiVersus‘ approach to new skins would likely benefit from taking inspiration from these unique looks.

MultiVersus Stage Tier List
MultiVersus has plenty of stages, but some are just built different when compared to the others in the roster; here’s the full breakdown.
A Popular Comic Series Brings a Metal-Inspired Edge to MultiVersus
The Dark Nights: Death Metal series focuses on a devastated alternate reality where the Batman Who Laughs has taken control, leaving the world in darkness. Variants for Batman, Joker, Wonder Woman, and Superman have been directly inspired by this comic arc, and it offers players some of the most unique skin options to date. Each character brings something new to the table, but so do great MultiVersus variants. The Dark Nights: Death Metal variants turn the iconic DC names into practically new characters, at least visually. Going forward, MultiVersus may definitely want to look at other similar arcs from its various IP in order to bring players the most exciting skins possible.
MultiVersus Dark Nights: Death Metal Skins
- The Batman Who Laughs
- Quintessence Diana
- Dark Nights: Death Metal Batman
- Anti-Life Superman
- Earth-0 Harley Quinn
These five variants offer drastically different appearances for these characters, especially when it comes to Joker and Superman. MultiVersus has experimented with bold skins in the past, but the Dark Nights: Death Metal looks have the benefit of taking inspiration directly from DC source material. Skins like Summer Vacay Arya and Frankenstein Iron Giant are fun ways to play around with these characters, but taking inspiration from actual franchise storylines and arcs could be a powerful way to keep many fans engaged with the game in the future.
The
Dark Nights: Death Metal
comic arc ran from June 2020 until January 2021.
Now that Season 3 of MultiVersus is underway, more characters have been brought into the fold. Thankfully, the introduction of the Powerpuff Girls suggests that MultiVersus is possibly sticking to the Dark Nights: Death Metal skin approach.
MultiVersus Continuing Its Trend of Unique Character Skins
The long-awaited arrival of the Powerpuff Girls is finally here, and their Rowdyruff Boys variant is another step in the right direction. Although the Rowdyruff Boys aren’t alternative universe versions like the Dark Nights: Death Metals characters are, this variant still boasts the same vibe. As darker counterparts to the Powerpuff Girls, the Rowdyruff Bots and the Dark Nights: Death Metal skins bring unique spins taken straight from their storylines. The one downside is that when it comes to the MultiVersus roster, not every character has a unique counterpart like the DC heroes or the Powerpuff Girls do.
However, MultiVersus has still made it clear that it can bring plenty of exciting character variants into the spotlight. The Dark Nights: Death Metal skins are likely just the tip of the iceberg, especially for its DC characters. There are so many alternate versions of DC’s heroes and villains that MultiVersus is sitting on a gold mine of future content. Even if the rest of the roster can’t get the same Dark Nights: Death Metal treatment, there are at least plenty of DC stories to draw from.
