Red Dead Redemption 2 Fan Spends 7 Months Recreating Arthur Morgan’s Journal, and It’s Spot-On

An artist spent seven months creating an incredible replica of the journal used by Red Dead Redemption 2‘s main protagonist, Arthur Morgan. The journal in Red Dead Redemption 2 is an important item that kept track of the game’s narrative, among other things.

Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the highest-selling games of all time, having already shipped more than 65 million copies worldwide since launching in late 2018. An aspect of the critically acclaimed open-world action title that continues to receive praise is its lead character, Arthur Morgan, who is widely regarded as one of gaming’s best main protagonists due to his captivating story and complexity as a person. The outlaw was also a talented illustrator, making sketches on a personal journal that a lot of people, like Instagram user kunstundso_05, have tried to recreate in real life.

In a recent post, kunstundso_05 revealed that they spent seven months to make a replica of Arthur Morgan’s journal from Red Dead Redemption 2. The artist explained that this replica, which also contained diary entries, notes, and sketches just like the journal it was based on, was a birthday present for their boyfriend. Many Instagram users left compliments on kunstundso_05’s video that also featured a heartfelt narration by Mary Linton, one of the supporting characters that Arthur Morgan interacts with in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Similar to Arthur Morgan, Mary Linton is a complex individual, and many consider her to be one of Red Dead Redemption 2‘s best female characters alongside other fan favorites such as Sadie Adler, Bonnie MacFarlane, and Abigail Marston. The latter is the wife of John Marston, who players will likely remember as the main protagonist of the original Red Dead Redemption and also had important moments in the sequel as well.

The last entry in Rockstar Games’ Western-themed action-adventure franchise was technically 2019’s Red Dead Online, essentially the multiplayer component of Red Dead Redemption 2. While it has not been officially announced, past rumors suggested that Red Dead Redemption 3 has already started production. Prior to the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser claimed that the success of the series’ 2018 installment determined whether the studio would make another Red Dead title.

Rockstar Games is set to release Grand Theft Auto 6 in 2025, or around six years after it launched Red Dead Redemption 2. The studio is also working with Remedy Entertainment on remakes of the first two games in the Max Payne franchise.
