Fall is the most special season in Stardew Valley, being the most lucrative of all four seasons. With valuable crops like Cranberries and Sweet Gem Berries, this season offers the potential to make any farmer the wealthiest citizen in Pelican Town. To exploit this period, players must carefully plan their harvests and choose the most profitable options to maximize their fall income. The following tier list ranks all fall crops from worst to best based on profitability, helping Stardew Valley farmers make informed decisions for the season.
How Are the Profit Estimations Calculated?
The “Estimated Profit Per Crop” is calculated by multiplying the number of harvests for each plant by its base selling price. This estimate does not account for potential price increases from refined or processed forms of the crop. However, readers can see which Artisan item yields the highest profit for each crop in the info table provided under each entry.

Stardew Valley: How to Find and Grow Every Crop
As a farming sim, crops are a major part of Stardew Valley, but not every crop seed is easy to find.
Updated on August 21, 2024, By Mohsen Baqery: Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update revitalized the game’s farming by introducing a new crop for each season. For fall, this update brought Broccoli—a fun crop to grow, though not the most profitable. Despite this addition, the fall’s overall profit margins remained unchanged. With these updates in mind, the following list has been revised to rank all fall crops based on profitability. Additionally, the list now includes multi-season crops like Tea Leaves that can also be grown in fall.

Wheat is an essential crop for any farmer in Stardew Valley, no matter their experience level. While only worth 25g, Wheat can be ground into flour, which can be used in many types of dishes and baked goods, from simple to more complicated.
Wheat also grows during two seasons, so the harvest and growth period for it can be maximized. However, it needs to be replanted, which can make it generally a hassle to have the farmland full of. It’s a nice crop to have on the side for utility, but it’s not great for profit.

Stardew Valley: The Best Crops for Each Season
If players want to get the best profit possible from their farm in Stardew Valley, they need to learn the best crops to grow for every season.
Corn is mainly used to make cooking oil at an Oil Maker, but since cooking oil isn’t needed in bulk by the player and there are better items like truffles to turn into oil, it’s not the best investment.
14 Sunflower

Sunflower seeds are an expensive investment to make in Stardew Valley. Farmers need to carefully manage their budgets if they want to grow these beautiful flowers that make great gifts for most villagers.
Sunflowers only make an 80g base profit from seeds worth 200g, but when harvested, they drop more seeds. The seeds can also be used to make cooking oil, which is needed to create recipes in the kitchen. While Sunflowers can be grown for both summer and fall, they’re not the greatest choice.
13 Eggplant

Pickle (170g) |
Eggplant is one of the autumnal plants that can be re-harvested after a few days. Each Eggplant goes for 60g and only takes 5 days to regrow. This makes the crop a worthy investment for farmers looking to turn a quick profit.
Eggplants are also a decent choice for any cooks out there, as they can be used to make the Survival Burger and Eggplant Parmesan dishes. Moreover, Eggplant is required for the Fall Crops Bundle in the Community Center, so it should be one of the first choices of a player planning to complete the bundles as soon as possible.
12 Yam

Yams are a great autumnal substitute for potatoes that grow in the spring. Worth 160g, Yam is only harvestable twice throughout fall. If players want to make a plentiful harvest of Yam during the fall, they’re going to have to plant quite a large amount of them.

Despite an abundance of crops to choose from, not all of them are good in Stardew Valley. Farmers looking to make a profit should avoid the following.
The classic Yam is required for players to complete the Fall Crops bundle located at the Community Center, so they’ll want to plant this as soon as possible if they plan on finishing the bundles quickly. Yams are also used to make Glazed Yams and Autumn’s Bounty dishes. The latter gives a great boost to Foraging and Defense.
11 Tea Leaves
Estimated Profit Per Crop: 350g

Selling Price Range |
50-55g |

20 Days (Regrows in 1 Day) |

Pickle (150g) |
Tea Leaves aren’t particularly popular among Stardew Valley farmers for a couple of reasons. First, acquiring a Tea Sapling is challenging, as it is only available from the Traveling Cart. Second, Tea Leaves don’t offer the highest profit compared to other fall crops like Beets.
Despite these drawbacks, growing Tea Leaves has its benefits. For instance, they are needed to make Green Tea , which is a requirement for the Brewer’s Bundle in the Pantry (Remixed). However, focusing solely on Tea Leaves is unlikely to maximize profit for players looking to boost their earnings.
10 Broccoli
Estimated Profit Per Crop: 350g
How To Get |

Most Profitable As |
Pickle (190g) |
The 1.6 update that was highly anticipated for Stardew Valley introduced one new crop for each season. Fall received Broccoli , which can’t be bought from any vendors except for the Raccoon Wife’s Shop. It is also found randomly by digging around Artifact Spots, breaking any of the wooden crates in the Mines, or using Mayor Lewis’ prize machine.
Broccoli doesn’t currently have any special uses other than sewing. Once planted, it can be harvested within eight days, which is a fairly long growth time, especially given the measly profit it gives, even at the Iridium quality level. That said, it can be harvested again every four days after its first harvest.
9 Beet

Beet is a reliable crop with seeds that only cost 20g, leading to an ROI (Return on Investment) of 80g. However, Beet takes 6 days to grow, meaning it can only be harvested a few times throughout the fall.

Beets are also limited in availability since their seeds can only be purchased from Sandy’s store in Calico Desert. The player will have to wait until they can fix the bus to access it and a few other particular crops.
8 Amaranth

Similar to Beets, Amaranth are only harvestable a few times a month but is worth quite a decent amount. Its selling price is 150g, and it is a crop used to make juice as well as a great gift for friends. If players are looking to grow closer to the inhabitants of Stardew Valley, Amaranth is a decent crop to grow.
Amaranth is also used in a side quest with Marnie, so it’s good to have some on hand during the first year of the game.
7 Bok Choy
Estimated Profit Per Crop: 480g

Pierre’s Store and JojaMart |
---|---|
Selling Price Range |
80-160g |

Most Profitable As |
Pickle (210g) |
Bok Choy is another crop like the Eggplant that doesn’t take very long to grow. Harvestable in just 4 days, Bok Choy is a great plant for farmers looking to make money fast. This crop costs 50g but turns a profit of 80g at the lowest rarity.
Although Bok Choy isn’t used in any of the Community Center bundles, it does see use in the Super Meal dish, the recipe for which can be acquired by befriending Kent. The Super Meal provides a ton of maximum energy and a speed boost, so planting a few Bok Choys for this recipe isn’t a bad idea.
6 Artichoke
Estimated Profit Per Crop: 480g

Similar to Yams, Artichoke can only be harvested a few times throughout the season, but it’s worth slightly more. Coming in at 160g and three harvests, Artichokes are a quicker investment for farmers looking for a similar experience from growing Yam, as Artichoke takes fewer days to grow.

Luckily, the Artichoke isn’t essential for any bundles, but it appears in two recipes. It can be used to make the simple Artichoke Dip or the Super Meal which is learned from a recipe sent over by Kent once he’s befriended. The Super Meal boosts speed and maximum energy, so it might be worth having a few artichokes in storage just for it.

Grape is an expensive seed to buy, but once fully grown, it is an incredible investment. While Grape takes ten days to fully mature, it is harvestable every three days throughout the fall, with each Grape worth 80g. Grape can also be fermented into wine, which can sell for way more.
Note that Grapes are planted on a trellis, meaning they need to be positioned in specific patterns for the player to access them. Make sure to leave some space so that the character can access each trellis at least from one side.

Stardew Valley: The Best Crops To Make Money
Farmers looking to make a serious profit in Stardew Valley should prioritize a select few crops above all else.
Cranberries only take 5 days to grow, so they’re harvestable several times throughout the fall. In terms of profit, Cranberries are the second-best fall crop to save for kegs, and they make decently-priced wine. For first-year farmers, they are a lucrative choice for making a profit before getting access to Star Fruits and Ancient Seeds.
1 Sweet Gem Berry
Estimated Profit Per Crop: 3,000g

Traveling Cart |
---|---|
Selling Price Range |
3,000-6,000g |
Growth Time |
24 Days |
Harvest Type |
Single Harvest |
Most Profitable As |
Row Fruit |
With a base price of 3,000g, the Sweet Gem Berry is the most profitable fall crop. Although it’s neither a fruit nor a vegetable, this rare crop grows from a seed that costs 1,000g but can be sold for three times that amount. The seeds take 24 days to grow, but the investment pays off for farmers looking to maximize their fall income.
Sweet Gem Berry seeds are only available in limited quantities from the Traveling Cart, so amassing a significant number requires considerable time and money. However, they are a worthwhile investment for mid and late-game farming. Since they don’t need to be refined and can’t be eaten, they are simply sold as they are.
