Borderlands 3 features dozens of submachine guns (and their different variants) from each weapon manufacturer. If you are loyal to the Maliwan faction for their elemental technology and damage-over-time firepower, however, look no further than the Flipper.
Hailed as one of the best submachine guns in Borderlands 3, the Flipper is all about conserving ammunition while devastating enemies at close to medium range. It fires a single projectile that builds up to nine projectiles the longer you hold the trigger. Sounds good? Here’s how to get it.

How to Get the Flipper in Borderlands 3
There are two ways to get the legendary Flipper submachine gun in Borderlands 3. Firstly, you can try your luck by getting the weapon as a random world drop by beating enemies and bosses, completing challenges, opening chests, etc. However, remember that the Flipper is exclusive to the Bounty of Blood: A Fistful of Redemption DLC. The legendary SMG only has a chance to drop from a dedicated loot source within the DLC, meaning that your legendary farming runs must be limited to the new locations in BL3.
Speaking of exclusive content, the Bounty of Blood DLC features a respawnable mini-boss called Minosaur with a higher 33 percent chance of dropping the Flipper in BL3. The human-saurian hybrid can be found in a walled-off area south of Bloodsun Canyon on Gehenna, as shown in the map below.
Take the Talbot’s Footsteps fast-travel point on the southern edge of Bloodsun Canyon and reach the Minosaur on foot. It is a short distance, making the grind less frustrating. There is a good chance that the Minosaur drops the Flipper on the second or third attempt.
The Minosaur is one of the beasts Ezra wants you to hunt down for their hides in the Bounty of Blood DLC. Hence, you will be encountering the mini-boss anyway to complete his location-based challenges.
As for the Minosaur, the mini-boss should not be that big of a challenge to bring down in Borderlands 3. While you will need to watch out for the trash mobs during the fight, bringing a single-target weapon can potentially beat the Minosaur in the first few seconds of the fight. This is where he spawns out of the cave entrance on the cliff. Unleash everything you have on him because the Minosaur will not attack for those few seconds.
