Universal Reveals First Look at New Stardust Racers

The Universal Orlando theme park has big expansion plans for the next few years, and the company has revealed a teaser for its new coaster, Stardust Racers. The coaster is part of Epic Universe at Universal, a series of five new lands in one park themed after various franchises and stories. Visitors can look forward to the Isle of Berk from How to Train Your Dragon, Super Nintendo World, the Ministry of Magic from Harry Potter, the Dark Universe, and Celestial Park. Stardust Racers is the big ride announced so far for the Celestial Park section, and now thrill seekers can get a good look at what this coaster is set to bring to the park.

Stardust Racers is a dual-launch coaster, themed to match the celestial decorations of the park. Fans will ride a shooting star across the cosmos, with speeds up to 62 mph over 5,000 feet of track. Universal has already revealed details regarding some of the lands in Epic Universe, such as the Universal Super Nintendo World, and recently, they unveiled a video featuring a behind-the-scenes look at what the Stardust Racers coaster is actually like.

While most fans are focused on Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights, many other exciting announcements have recently come to light. As part of the Ride Guys series on YouTube, Universal has been teasing upcoming attractions like Stardust Racers, including shots of the coaster in action. Since Stardust Racers is a dual-launch coaster, riders will board a comet and race against a competing ride vehicle. One of the key traits of the ride is the Celestial Spin, in which the two vehicles crisscross over each other as they race over the tracks. Fitting the theme of comets, the ride also includes no external track lighting, lit by the vehicles alone.

Detailed Look At The Stardust Racers Coaster

While the coaster shines the most at night, this section of the park is themed to create an immersive experience, regardless of the time of day. Between the rides and restaurants throughout the Celestial Park section of Epic Universe, there’s a lot for visitors to look forward to when it opens next year. While there’s still a lot that could change compared to the initial concept art and teaser content, Universal is making progress on the additions to its theme parks, coming through on the promises found in the teasers for Universal’s Epic Universe lands.

While the coaster is impressive, many longtime fans of Universal Parks worry that the theme isn’t that impressive, especially since it’s an outdoor coaster without themed experiences like many indoor rides. Universal is known for its thrill rides, however, and Stardust Racers certainly seems to check that box, even if the immersion it offers isn’t as strong as the attractions found in some of Disney’s new lands. Visitors will have to wait until 2025 to know for sure if the coaster will meet expectations.
