Helldivers 2 can be a very chaotic game, with all sorts of weapons and strategems that heavily inventive players to go out and obliterate the enemies of democracy without holding anything back. Despite this focus, there are a lot of mechanics in the game that focus on the enemies noticing the player.
While there is no focused stealth system in the game, players can make an entire build with the focus of not being detected, and try to sneak around and complete objectives without ever being seen. Here are the ins and outs of the stealth system, along with the best build to try and get the most out of it.
Best Stealth Build in Helldivers 2 (Feet First Armor Passive)
If you really want to try a stealth build, you’ll need to get the ODST Warbond. Either armor set in this Warbond comes with the Feet First armor passive, which has your character make 50% less noise when moving. Noise will be the main thing your build should aim to counter, so you’ll want to bring the two suppressed weapons in this Warbond as your primary and secondary:
Best Stealth Strategems
Just about every strategem in the game will do something to give you away, but the following two strategems are very useful when you’ve been detected and need to break line of sight.
How Well Does Stealth Work in Helldivers 2
Overall, Stealth isn’t your best approach, but that’s not to say it doesn’t work to some degree. With the Feet First passive, your movements will be very quiet, and always crouching or crawling will let you sneak right up behind an enemy. Line of sight will always be your biggest issue, but playing a nighttime mission and turning off your weapon’s flashlight will greatly help you maintain obscurity.
Suppressed Weapons can still be heard by nearby enemies, but they have to be much closer than if you’re firing a regular weapon. It’s also important to note that if two enemies are close together, shooting one of them will alert the other, so save killing of any kind as a last resort unless an enemy is on their own.
The smoke strategems may not be a great damage-dealing option, but they are great for breaking the line of sight or also giving you cover to quickly take out a few enemies. While you can’t see any better in the smoke, you’ll move around quietly, and even if it’s out in the open, enemies won’t see or shoot you. Stealth may not be a go-to way to finish an operation, but it can be great for surprising your enemy by hitting a specific unit or structure.
