Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launches a new event for Season 5, but fans have seemingly been left disappointed, taking to social media to once again criticize Treyarch and Activision for its lackluster post-launch content. The latest Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone event is themed around ’90s Action Heroes, but with not a single action hero in sight, fans have been left somewhat baffled.
While Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was a huge success at launch, one of the community’s biggest criticisms has been surrounding the shooter’s post-launch content. New seasons have added tons of new weapons, maps, modes, and more, but the game’s heavy focus on microtransactions, its lack of content from previous titles (such as Modern Warfare 3‘s weekly challenges), and constant bugs and glitches have left an incredibly sour taste in players’ mouths going into Black Ops 7.
Black Ops 6 Fans Left Disappointed by New Event
With the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on the horizon, Black Ops 6‘s life cycle is in its final stages. Fans may have been hoping that Treyarch would be pulling out all the stops to send Black Ops 6 out with a bang, but another lackluster event has left fans disappointed. The new ’90s Action Heroes event features 13 rewards and is supposedly a “homage to action flicks,” but fans have been left confused by the lack of any supposed action heroes. Players have taken to social media to mock the event, with one user quipping, “All 90s, no action heroes.”
This isn’t the first time Call of Duty has held such an event, as one user compared it to the ’80s Action Heroes event from the day of Black Ops Cold War, calling the newest iteration a “downgrade.” There’s no denying that the event is definitely a downgrade, especially considering the original 80s event actually featured some iconic action heroes, such as Sylvester Stallone’s Rambo and Bruce Willis’ John McClane.
What makes this event all the more disappointing is that Activision has previously pulled out all the stops when it comes to Black Ops 6 collaborations. But seemingly forgot that an 80s Action Heroes event should probably have, you know, action heroes. In its less than one year on the market, Black Ops 6 has had collaborations with Squid Game, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Terminator, Jay and Silent Bob, Ballerina, and many more.
Lackluster post-launch content, an incessant number of microtransactions, unrealistic cosmetic items: these are just some of the reasons why fans seem to be jumping ship to Battlefield 6 this year. The official worldwide reveal for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 hasn’t gone down too well with fans, as the shooter’s newest trailer not only has well over 100,000 dislikes on YouTube, but it’s also riddled with comments from players stating that it made them pre-order Battlefield 6.
