August 19 is Going to Be a Super Busy Day for PS Plus

Tuesday, August 19 is going to be a busy day for PlayStation Plus subscribers as 11 games are being added to the Extra and Premium tiers at the same time that 14 others are getting the boot. Sony updates the Extra and Premium libraries of PlayStation Plus on a monthly basis, meaning there are always new games to play, but there are also games that are removed from the lineup.

The Extra and Premium tiers of PlayStation Plus don’t function like the Essential tier. The games released through the PS Plus Essential tier can be kept forever as long as one stays subscribed to the service. Conversely, PS Plus Extra and Premium games are available on a rotating basis, and once they’re removed, anyone that wants to keep playing will have to purchase them outright.

The good news is that most PS Plus Extra and Premium games are available for at least a year before they’re given the boot, which gives subscribers plenty of time to play through them. With that in mind, there are nine new games coming to PS Plus Extra on August 19 and two new games coming to PS Plus Premium. That same day, PS Plus subscribers will have to say goodbye to a whopping 14 other titles, and at this point, it’s too late to play through them all.

  • Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key
  • Coral Island
  • Earth Defense Force 6
  • Harold Halibut
  • Indika
  • Mortal Kombat 1
  • Spider-Man Remastered
  • Sword of the Sea
  • Unicorn Overlord

On the PS Plus Extra side of things, subscribers can look forward to nine new games, including some rather heavy hitters. Mortal Kombat 1 is a hugely successful fighting game, while Spider-Man Remastered is considered one of the better superhero games ever made. Sword of the Sea is a day one game coming to PS Plus Extra on August 19, and subscribers may also be interested in the critically-acclaimed strategy game Unicorn Overlord and the Stardew Valley-inspired Coral Island.

New PS Plus Premium Games for August 2025

  • Resident Evil 2
  • Resident Evil 3: Nemesis

As far as PS Plus Premium goes, there are two new games coming to the service on August 19. The PS1 versions of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis will be joining the PS Plus Premium lineup on August 19, though the only drawback is that, unlike some other classics added to PS Plus Premium, they will be missing trophy support.

List of PS Plus Extra and Premium Games Leaving in August 2025

  • Bugsnax
  • EA Sports UFC 5
  • Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker
  • RIDE 5
  • Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
  • Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris
  • Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet
  • Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization
  • Sword Art Online: Last Recollection
  • Sword Art Online: Lost Long
  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
  • Top Spin 2K25
  • Vacation Simulator
  • Wild Hearts

The 11 new games being added to PS Plus Extra and Premium should keep subscribers busy for quite a while, but it will still be sad to see 14 games get removed on the very same day. Out of all the games leaving PS Plus Premium in August 2025, the two that will likely sting the most for subscribers are Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, with the latter’s departure meaning that the service is losing one of its highest-rated games.
